Shopping in Kuala Lumpur!
What a great place to shop. Bargains galore and something for everyone. No matter where you will be
be staying in Kuala Lumpur you are never far from a "Pasar Malam" night market as every suburb has
one, they are all on different nights of the week so do not worry if you miss the one in your area,
there is bound to be another one another night not far away. If staying out of the city centre the
night markets are more for the locals and thus the prices are not inflated and you will in general get a better deal. The main shopping strip in K.L is along Bukit Bintang, pronounced Bookit Bin Tang off this road you will find restaurants, exclusive shopping at the pavilion, fahrenheit 88, Starhill Gallery & Lot 10. At Sungei Wang Plaza you will find department stores, clothing, tailors, Phones, phones and more phones, camera's & associated equipment, optometrist, ( we recommend Eyecare Optometry LG floor ) as they make the lenses on site, last visit i
had my eyes tested at 3.00 pm and picked up the glasses at 5.00 pm same day and the prices are good. There are plenty o restuarants inside and a great food court. ( where the locals eat on the 4th floor) Do a u turn off the escalator and you will find it, whilst you are having a look around or waithing for
your glasses the kids can try some roller skating on the 3rd floor at ( Roller Sports World. ) Sungei Wang abuts or joins BB Plaza in fact the transition from one plaza to the other is seamless the only real indicator that you are in a different plaza being different tiles on the floor. Turn left at the corner of BB Plaza and follow the road around a couple of bends and diagonally across the road you will be looking at Low yat Plaza, continue on straight ahead and you will looking at Times Square which is on the other side of jalan Imbi ( jalan means road ). Low yat plaza is the largest IT mall in Kuala Lumpur. Great deals can be found for your memory sticks / thumb drives, media centres, blank CD's & DVD's, lap tops, hard drives, replacement inks for your injet printers, USB hubs, card readers etc etc. Times square is a large shopping center with an estimated 2.5 million patrons every month, the shops are a little bit up market and the prices reflect this, within the shopping centre is Cosmo's world and indoor theme park with roller coaster and various other rides offering reasonable value for money. Most shopping centers in K.L will have a supermarket and licensed money changers, the rates at local & city money changers for the Auzzie dollar are quiet often 7 - 10% better than the rates available at Malaysian Airports and the rate available in Australia. If you look across the road from BB Plaza you will see KFC, cross jalan bukit bintang and keep going straight ahead with KFC on the street corner on your right, the next road ( 10 mts on your left ) is jalan alor. Looking for food then you have arrived, the best food in K.L is not in your fancy restaurants. It's here, great food, good prices and you can get a nice cold one with the meal as well. If you continue on down Jalan Bukit Bintang ( with BB plaza on your left ) you will come to the end of the road. You are now at jalan Pudu turning right will take you to China Town ( 15 - 20 minut walk ) and central market add o another 10 minutes. Within a 10 - 15 minute taxi ride or 5 stations on the train from our condo / apartment your are at many more excellent shopping centres. Mid valley Mega mall ( one of k.l's largest, ) One Utama, Ikano Power Centre, The Curve.
